As a result of Scrabster’s unique proximity to the bounteous north Atlantic fishing grounds we at the Captain’s Galley are able to serve an extensive variety of simple uncomplicated dishes from all around the world. Due to the freshness of our seafood, even Sushi and Sashimi are regularly on our menu.

In the words of one of our regular Japanese friends, “the best Sashimi is not how close you can get to central Tokyo, it’s here, where we get the freshest fish.” In the kitchen Jim has a simple rule of thumb, “If I won't eat it raw, I won't cook it for my customers, then I have no doubt they are sitting down to nothing but the very best”.

The meat and vegetarian options are as equally exciting, wild Caithness Roe Deer and Caithness reared (Middle White) rare breed pork, Jim says “If you meat shop in the supermarket then you’ve not tasted real pork. To help complement the excellent food we have a small but well balanced wine list consisting of whites and reds from the traditional French classics to the excitement of the new world.

All this can be enjoyed in the sympathetically renovated Ice House, with its original Caithness flagstone floor and spectacular barrel vaulted ceiling
